We
consider a move to be local when both the
collection and delivery points are located within
the province of Malaga or adjoining areas (i.e.
Fuengirola, Marbella, Benalmadena, Mijas,
Torremolinos, Nerja, Competa, San Pedro, Estepona,
Alhaurin, Malaga) and
regional
when one or both of the addresses are situated
outside the province of Malaga but within the
region of Andalucia. Regarding our quotations, we prefer to offer the client
an ALL IN PRICE, without any hidden extras! However long we take you only get
charged what is agreed in the estimate, unless
additional services are carried out(i.e. extra
items to be moved) or the crew suffer unforeseen
delays(i.e. the lift isn't working on the moving day,
Notary delays the pickup/delivery). All packing
materials needed for the move would be included in
the quotation. Alternatively, you may wish to be
quoted an hourly rate(only local moves), with
packing materials charged separately. Depending on your circumstances, you
can choose to
pack all/some of your belongings before the moving
day, for which we
can supply you with a variety of packing cartons,
wrapping paper and tape; or you can sit back and
allow us to do everything for you. Obviously the
more packing you do, the more time you will save
us and this will be reflected in the estimate.
Whichever option you choose, you will be handed
the details in writing so that you know where you
stand.

On
the moving day, our uniformed and trained staff
will go through every room in the house/apartment
with you to make sure they know what is and what isn't
to go. Any furniture that needs to be disassembled
like wardrobes, bed frames and wall units will be
reassembled for you at the other end. We always carry a
full set of tools with us for this purpose. On local
and regional moves,
furniture is generally blanket wrapped in the van
unless special arrangements have been made in the
quotation. Boxes packed by us will be clearly
marked, indicating contents and room. On arrival at
your new home, every item will be placed where
instructed and all packing
debris will be taken away. We can also provide you
with a full
unpacking service (optional) that consists in
unpacking all of the cartons and placing the contents
where they belong. If you require an electrician,
a plumber or a general handyman to assist you
after the move we can supply you with reputable
contacts.

Frequently asked questions:
1. Are my goods insured
on local and national moves?
To begin with, we must differentiate the "contrato de seguro de transporte"
from the "contrato de transporte". From a legal point of view, the transport
company is not obliged to subscribe an additional "seguro de transporte" or
transport insurance(also referred to as "All Risks" cover). It is up to the customer to
inquire about taking out extra cover for their belongings.
Our surveyor will guide you through the different options available.
Clients' consignments are automatically insured for a maximum value of 18.000
Euros(this is what's known as transit insurance). The policy covers damages to
goods(in the vehicle) caused by fire, lightning, explosion, road accident, armed robbery,
flooding and earthquake. The responsibilities
of the transport company are reflected in the "contrato de transporte" or
transport contract. At present, the Ley de Ordenación de
los Transportes Terrestres (LOTT 16/1987) and the Real
Decreto (1136/1997) limit
a transport company's
responsibility for damages, loss and malfunctions to goods during road
transport to a maximum of 4.5 Euros per kilogram.
2. How long will
it
take to move my goods? Every move is different and needs to
be properly assessed before an approximate time scale can be given. The answer depends on many factors
such as the:
· amount of packing/unpacking required. · amount of
furniture and personal effects to be moved. · type of furniture
you have. · type of building
you are moving from/to. · access difficulties (i.e.
long carry, no lift) · climatic conditions on the
moving day. · parking options available to
our vehicles. · distance between the collection and
delivery points. · manpower assigned to the move.
3. When should I contact a mover for a quotation?
You should begin to search for a
suitable moving company 3-4 weeks before your intended moving date. This will
allow time to get competitive quotations and to make all
the necessary arrangements. Researching
potential moving companies is the best strategy you have to ensure an honest,
reliable and fair move.

|
Using weak and different sized
supermarket boxes.
These boxes are not designed to carry heavy loads and
simply cave in when stacking due to the weakness of the
cardboard.
|
|
Using
sealing tape directly on polished furniture surfaces.
Tape can leave nasty marks on furniture
once peeled off. It is also time
consuming to remove the residue left behind on glass and plastic. |
|
Over
filling boxes until they bulge on top.
If something doesn't fit properly in
a box, look for a bigger box! You will compromise the
integrity of the box by overfilling it. |
|
Not
using enough padding in a box.
Boxes shouldn't be half full or they won't
withstand the weight of the ones above. You should try to
pack tightly so nothing can rattle or move. |
"I would just like to take this
opportunity to thank you all at Southern Storage for what
was a most successful move back to the UK. Congratulations
to Mark and the team for the very efficient packing and
loading at the Spanish end and to Les and Adam of
Britannia(Lanes of Somerset) for delivering everything
safely back to Sunbury for us. We could not believe our
eyes when we arrived home after only disembarking at
Portsmouth at 7.00am to find the lorry waiting in the
driveway! What service! Once again thank you all so much
for making our move back to the UK as painless as
possible. We will be very happy to recommend Southern
Storage and the Britannia group in the future to people
both in Spain and the UK". - Mrs Rimmer. All
